Hi, I’m Meinir, a Welsh Soprano living in London. Growing up in Wales, Music was always in my blood. I was competing at the National Eisteddfod of Wales from a very young age. Pop music and Musicals were my inspiration growing up. My passion was belting out Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey on my Karaoke- I even ended up in the final rounds of Stars in their Eyes Kids as Delta Goodrem! As my voice developed it became apparent that Classical music was the route I should pursue and therefore I went to study Voice at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester followed by a Masters Degree and an Advanced Diploma in Opera at the Royal Academy of Music in London. I am now a Professional Freelance Opera Singer.

When I’m singing my motivation is to get the audience to feel something, no matter how big or small - if they can relate to an emotion or anexperience that I’m portraying on stage then I’ve done my job.

When I teach singing, my main focus is to make sure we are always enjoying the process and the performing element. Of course, a healthy technique and a knowledge of how the voice and body works is also important. I want to bring out the confidence in young people to use their voices and express what they feel they connect with; be that a musical song, an opera aria, a classical piece, a pop song, a folk song, a Disney song, hymns, carols… there are so many different genres to explore and enjoy!
