Rhiannon Llewellyn
Bmus(hons) MA AdvDip(RAM) MISM - Singing, piano, group piano, mini musicians and Putney Music School Principal
Hi! I’m Rhiannon. I live in Putney with my husband, two sons and I’ve been teaching music for more than 15 years. My teaching super power is being able to find at least 50 different ways to get young children to find middle C on the piano without losing my patience! As well as being an opera singer, I founded Putney Music School in 2018, work as a peripatetic singing and piano teacher at Falcons School and also as a freelance adjudicator.
I passionately believe every child should have the opportunity to learn an instrument which is why we run a bursary programme at Putney Music School.
I trained as in opera at the Royal Academy of Music and have been working as a professional singer for over ten years for some of the UK's most prestigious opera companies. You can read all about my professional performing career here.
Whether you have aspirations to be the next Pavarotti or Kristin Chenoweth, can't hold a tune in a bucket or would just like to be more confident in projecting the alto line in your choral society, I would love to help you find your voice. I am passionate about singing and how it can be used as a tool to improve self-confidence, physical and mental health.
I specialise in teaching piano to children and place a great emphasis on finding out who that child is as a musician, through movement, singing, improvisation, composition, drawing and games as well as tinkling the ivories! I have experience teaching a number of students with learning difficulties, specifically children with autism, in individual as well as group settings. I teach a lot through games and am a member of Vibrant Music Teaching, where I keep abreast of all of the latest pedagogy!
